Stas Venglevski
Stas’s keyboard artistry, dazzling technical command, and sensitivity have brought Stanislav, "Stas," Venglevski, a native of the Republic of Moldova, part of the former Soviet Union, increasing acclaim as a virtuoso of the Bayan. A two-time first prize winner of Bayan competition in the Republic of Moldova, Stas is a graduate of the Russian Academy of Music in Moscow where he received his Masters Degree in Music under the tutelage of the famed Russian Bayanist, Friedrich Lips. In 1992 he immigrated to the United States, now resides in Milwaukee.
Stas is an Accordionist, a Musician, an Arranger, an Entertainer and a Teacher. Stas' repertoire includes his original compositions, a broad range of classical, contemporary and ethnic music. He has toured extensively as a soloist throughout the former Soviet Union, Canada, Europe, and the United States, including numerous performances with Doc Severinsen, Steve Allen and with Garrison Keillor on the Prairie Home Companion Show. Additionally, he has performed with symphony orchestras throughout the United States. He performed the world premiere of Concerto No. 2 by Anthony Galla-Rini and also the world premiere of Bayan and Beyond, composed for Stas by Dan Lawitts.
Stas is an Artistic Director of A World Accordions Museum, Superior WI.
Martina Li
Classical accordionist Martina Li started her accordion training at an early age in Northwest China during China’s “accordion craze” in the 1990s. She studied under Dingcheng Zhang and won the gold medal for solo accordion performance at the 2002 China Youth Artist New Talent Selection Competition. After moving to the United States in 2008, Martina obtained her PhD in ethnomusicology from the University of Texas at Austin. She taught Music History at Sam Houston State University from 2018 to 2022. Martina has performed as a guest artist at the San Antonio International Accordion Festival, the annual masterclass concert series with Dr. William Schimmel, and the National Accordion Convention. She collaborated with the Houston-based chamber group Aperio-Music of the Americas (2020) and participated in World Music projects in Austin including Forro de Quintal (2015), Daniele Ruiz Tango Trio (2012), and Austin Piazzolla Quintet (2010). Martina currently studies at Dallas Theological Seminary as a full-time student.
